Lance Lipinsky & The Lovers
www.thelovers.com
Entertainer and songwriter Lance Lipinsky delivers an explosive pumpin' piano performance showcasing his influences of the 1950's and 60s in his original music. He and his Chicago based group "the Lovers," take on a modern evolution of a timeless throwback style combining such sounds as Rockabilly, classic Country, and 60's pop in an unforgettable live concert.
"What’s good doesn’t die,” is a motto Texas native Lance Lipinsky defends and feels obligated to broadcast to audiences. Since childhood he has showcased a musical persona hauntingly inspired from the past, carrying on a tradition to preserve a form of music that is becoming a lost art.
As a new sound emerged in the mid 1950s, flocks of guitar themed singers dominated the scene. In this new arena called Rock & Roll, few front men in history stood behind a piano. Not much has changed almost 60 years later and Lance is one of this rare breed by being a new age piano based Rockabilly entertainer and songwriter.
With driving Jerry Lee style piano rhythms and Elvis inspired swagger in his original music, Lance is a modern day evolution, almost a descendant of his influences of the 50’s and 60’s in his live shows and in his song writing.
In the instant gratification world of YouTube and American Idol reality television, mainstream music has seen drastic changes over the years and these phases never affected Lance, as he remained an old soul by completely ignoring the generation he grew up in.
With no formal training, his dad's vinyl record collection contributed to a self taught education on piano and guitar and was was possessed by music before his time. After dropping out of high school at a mere 17 years old, he landed an over night big break on the Las Vegas strip and his devotion to the 50’s Rockabilly subculture lead to a full time lifestyle and a career.
Combining his influences of 1950's & 60's Rock & Roll, Lance's songwriting can be experienced as a continuation, a sequel to a style that originated from that era. Some would label it as “oldies” or “nostalgia” but artists like Lance devoted in the Roots music movement, remind us that this style is not just a mere trend from the past but rather it's own genre that is still alive and well, standing the test of time.
His first debut original hit album "Roll" was recorded on all vintage analog equipment at the legendary Sun Records in Memphis, TN with his Chicago based band, the Lovers.
Being born too late has its advantages... His wild live shows have led him all over the world, even to making his national television debut at the original Ryman Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee. He currently portrays his piano hero pioneer Jerry Lee Lewis in the Tony Award winning musical Million Dollar Quartet, now playing at the Apollo Theater in Chicago, IL.

The Left Banke
www.leftbankeband.com
The Left Banke is an American baroque pop band that formed in New York City in 1965, disbanded in 1969, and reformed in 2011. They are best remembered for their two US hit singles, "Walk Away Renée" and "Pretty Ballerina". The band often utilized what the music press referred to as "baroque" string arrangements, which led to their music being variously termed as "Bach-rock", "baroque rock", or "baroque 'n' roll". The band's vocal harmonies borrowed from contemporaries such as The Beatles, The Zombies, and other British Invasion groups.
In 2004, Rolling Stone magazine placed "Walk Away Renée" at #220 in its list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
The live band now features original founding member, George Cameron.

Larry Coryell
www.larrycoryell.net
As one of the pioneers of jazz-rock -- perhaps the pioneer in the ears of some -- Larry Coryell deserves a special place in the history books. He brought what amounted to a nearly alien sensibility to jazz electric guitar playing in the 1960s, a hard-edged, cutting tone, phrasing and note-bending that owed as much to blues, rock and even country as it did to earlier, smoother bop influences. Yet as a true eclectic, armed with a brilliant technique, he is comfortable in almost every style, covering almost every base from the most decibel-heavy, distortion-laden electric work to the most delicate, soothing, intricate lines on acoustic guitar. Unfortunately, a lot of his most crucial electric work from the '60s and '70s is missing on CD, tied up by the erratic reissue schemes of Vanguard, RCA and other labels, and by jazz-rock's myopically low level of status in the CD era (although that mindset is slowly changing).
Born in Galveston, Texas on April 2, 1943 Coryell grew up in the Seattle, Washington area where his mother introduced him to the piano at the tender age of 4. He switched to guitar and played rock music while in his teens. He didn't consider himself good enough to pursue a music career and studied journalism at The University of Washington while simultaneously taking private guitar lessons. By 1965 he had relocated to New York City and began taking classical guitar lessons which would figure prominently in later stages of his career. Although citing Chet Atkins and Chuck Berry as early influences he also took cues from jazzmen such as John Coltrane and Wes Montgomery. He was also inspired by the popular music of the day by the Beatles, The Byrds and Bob Dylan and worked diligently to meld both rock and jazz stylings into his technique. This was reflected on his debut recording performance on drummer Chico Hamilton's album " The Dealer" where he sounded like chuck Berry at times with his almost distorted "fat" tone. Also in 1966 he formed a psychedelic band called The Free Spirits on which he also sang vocals, played the sitar and did most of the composing. Although conceptually the band's music conformed to the psychedelic formula with titles like "Bad News Cat" and" I'm Gonna Be Free" it foreshadowed jazz rock with more complex soloing by Coryell and Sax/flute player Jim Pepper. However, it wasn't until three years later after apprenticing on albums by Vibraphonist Gary Burton and flutist Herbie Mann and gigging with the likes of Jack Bruce and others that Coryell established his multifarious musical voice, releasing two solo albums which mixed jazz, classical and rock ingredients. In late 1969 he recorded "Spaces", the album for which he is most noted. It was a guitar blow-out which also included John McLaughlin who was also sitting on the fence between rock and jazz at the time and the cogitative result formed what many aficionados consider to be the embryo from which the fusion jazz movement of the 1970s emerged. It contained insane tempos and fiery guitar exchanges which were often beyond category not to mention some innovating acoustic bass work by Miroslav Vitous and power drumming by Billy Cobham both of whom were to make contributions to Jazz rock throughout the `70s.
His career, however, began in era of guitar rock, where he was able to rise for a time with legends such as Jimi Hendrix, Carlos Santana, and Eric Clapton. As this era came to a close, his musical expression took him on a diverse journey, and though he did not receive the level of commercial fame the aformentioned musicians had, he was still able to make his mark in music by way of the jazz & fusion world. His music continues to influence musicians and fans internationally and will continue to do so for a very long time.

Captain Beyond
www.officialcaptainbeyond.com
The original line-up for Captain Beyond were singer Rod Evans (ex-Deep Purple), drummer Bobby Caldwell (ex-Johnny Winter), guitarist Larry "Rhino" Reinhardt (ex-Iron Butterfly), and bassist Lee Dorman (ex-Iron Butterfly), as well as keyboardist Lewie Gold. Gold left due to personal reasons before the first album was recorded. The remaining line-up recorded the self-titled debut album, released in 1972. Following this album Caldwell left the band to join Derringer and was replaced by drummer Brian Glascock. Also joining the band around this time were Reese Wynans on keyboards and Guille Garcia on congas. The record company's chosen producer, Giorgio Gomelsky, did not like Glascock's drumming and requested a new drummer. Glascock was released and Marty Rodriguez was brought in on drums on the recommendation of Garcia. This six man lineup recorded the group's second album, Sufficiently Breathless. Tension during the recording led to Evans quitting. The original lineup reformed later in 1973 for a US tour but the band split up at the end of the year, with Rod Evans retiring from the music business completely.
The band reformed in 1976 with Willy Daffern on vocals, and Bobby Caldwell, Rhino and Lee Dorman completing the line-up. They recorded the band's third album Dawn Explosion on Warner Bros., but broke up in 1978.
Reinhardt and Caldwell reformed Captain Beyond in 1998 with Jimi Interval on vocals, Steve Petrey on guitar, Dan Frye on keyboards, and Jeff Artabasy on bass. Since then they have been performing at shows and have released a four track EP.
In 1999, Swedish record label Record Heaven released a tribute to Captain Beyond entitled Thousand Days of Yesterday. The album features fellow 1970s rockers Pentagram playing "Dancing Madly Backwards".
Captain Beyond once again disbanded in 2003 when lead guitarist Larry Reinhardt developed cancer. Following treatment, Reinhardt continued to perform music until late 2011, when he again fell ill. He died on January 2, 2012. Bassist Lee Dorman died on December 21, 2012. Rod Evans has stayed reclusive from performing, partly due to legal troubles from his original Deep Purple bandmates, and his current residence is still unknown.
Caldwell resurrected the band in 2013, with a lineup consisting of Jeff "Boday" Christensen, Don Bonzi, Simon Lind, and Jeff Artabasy. The reformed group began touring in 2015.
